We had the Great Stamp Sale yesterday. I was delighted, a just on 1pm all sorts of people started arriving, some who'd been to SERS in the past, and some who were new!
Ellen and I got heaps of help setting up the tables, and there followed three solid hours of shopping!
I couldn't be more pleased with what I took home (I'm going to play with them this afternoon).
As a special treat, Ellen brought a box of samples she had made for shops, for magazines and for classes. We spent some time admiring her work.
Here's one of Ellen's cool samples! She's not even a teddy bear person, but this is gorgeous.
Liz, Cathy and Gail browsing at one of the four tables...
This is not MY haul. Not all of it, anyway. I added more later. Oh my goodness, I bought a lot. I don't think I was the biggest buyer though!
Thanks to everyone who came, it was fabulous. You were good shoppers, and good guests too. Come by SERS any time to have a relaxing time stamping, won't you?
And - there are stamps left! A lot, and plenty of good ones too. So we're plotting the next move. There may be a return visit some other month. Stay tuned!

The enormity of it all
This is probably the last post here before the sale. So let's just get our heads around the whole stamps-for-sale thing. Look at some of the past posts - the stamps are in nice little blue or green baskets.
Well, THIS is where the baskets have been living all this time!
And here they are packed and ready for transport!

And here's a last look at some of the excellent word stamps.
So be at the Mount St Neighbourhood House, Glen Waverley, from 1 to 4pm, on Saturday 29 September, to get a chance to buy these goodies for yourself.

Some Artful Goodness
We're in the last few days before the big stamp sale - here's another taster. Assorted brands, all high quality ones. How sweet is that Noah's Ark?
And some more gorgeous stuff - that tea pot stamp - sigh!
See that house stamp? I think that's made by Penny Black. Just as I uploaded it tonight, it looked familiar....

Have a look at what I have had in a frame in my room for about ten years now ... this!
This pretty card was stamped by Stacey Apeitos using that stamp design. She stamped it on fabric, coloured it, and picked out the good bits in embroidery. It was made ages ago for a SERS challenge, and I can't be sure how I got it, but it's one of my "things" now.

Money Matters
Quick update on the topic of MONEY at the stamp sale. We looked into getting an EFTPOS machine - it's not going to happen! What we can do though, is have an internet-connected laptop handy, for bank transfers. And of course, our old friend cash. If you really stack up the stamps, and can't pay your bill on the day, we can always arrange for you to pay later and have them posted to you. You'd have to cover the cost of postage, of course.
So there we are, that's the arrangements for money. We are trying to keep it simple and just flexible enough.
See ya at the stamp sale!

Getting sentimental now!
Word stamps are always popular. Simple messages, poetic quotes, words as art. Here's some of the word stamps that will be on offer at the Great Southern Stamp Sale (only a bit over a week to go).
That's a huge drawer full of quality word stamps.
AND you will see letters from the PSX Botanical Alphabet. Ellen does NOT want that alphabet split up, and she DOES want a decent price for it (it was a big investment). If you did a class with Ellen, she may have made you a name tag using this very set (she made me one back when I was a baby stamper!). So, if you are interested in that alphabet, think about it now. And maybe get in touch privately about it.
See ya at the sale!
